I personally hesitate to take notes on the books I read, but I think it’s a must to take notes on non-fiction you read.
It will be in every person who has started reading no-fiction books recently in an pursuit to become the person you desired to be. You doubt yourself and your memory to remember the things you read. You worry whether all that you read will vanish from your mind over time and also hesitate to take time consuming notes.
Don’t worry even I an avid reader for the past 1 year as on 2021 was worried about it and it actually happened. The first book I read was ‘The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People’ by Stephen R Covey and I barely remember anything from it.
But also its irritable and time consuming to take notes on everything you read. But here’s the solution.
You don’t need to take notes on every book you read. Yes it’s not necessary.
I personally use Ali Abdaal’s notes template to take notes from books in notion and I only take notes on books I feel Life changing or rate 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Because any book less valuable than that dosen’t require that care. For example recently I read a book named ‘Company Of One’ by Paul Jarvis. A life changing book it is, that I can’t spare to forget it over time, so I took notes on it. And another book named ‘How The Mighty Fall’ by Jim Collins, though it was rated 4 by me, it dose not require that much care from me so I just formulate the important points from it.
So take notes only on life changing books that you care the most forgetting about and formulate the key notes in the less important books. It’s all about prioritising. When your ship fail it’s your job only to save the crew and not the whole ship.
